Jennifer Carter

Biography

Opera Canada described Jennifer’s Elettra (in Idomeneo, with GRO) as “…exhilarating. Every move onstage – a sideways glance, a turned heel or a violent kick at a prop – added to her portrayal of a jealous and vengeful character… the vocal power unleashed (and) vocal fireworks…embodied a character torn apart by torment and fury.”

She has performed with the KW Community Orchestra, Orchestra@uWaterloo, Wagner in Vermont Festival, Dramatic Voices Berlin, Powerhouse Opera, Opera by Request, Opera Susquehanna, and the Colours of Music Festival in Barrie.

Selected roles include Suor Angelica; Chrysothemis (Elektra); Ariadne auf Naxos; Norma; Donna Anna (Don Giovanni); Nedda (Pagliacci); and Valkyries & Rheinmaidens in Wagner’s Ring Cycle.

She is based in Kitchener, is the artistic director of GRO, and runs an independent voice studio.
